For home-based, mobile and remote businesses

Give your home-based business a place online

Explain what you offer and how customers can work with you, even when you do not have a shopfront. An Eyam profile brings your business information together with a shareable link and the contact options available on your plan.

A hosted profile. Your business details. One link to share.

Describe how you serve customers

Customers visit by arrangement

Explain that visits need an appointment. Publish only the location information you want visible, then agree practical visit details directly.

You travel to customers

Name the suburbs or towns you cover, describe the work you do on-site and explain how customers should ask about travel charges or availability.

You provide remote services

Use the remote-services option only when work can be delivered remotely. Explain how customers enquire, share requirements and agree the scope.

Eligible accounts can claim the free-listing offer without a card. Check eligibility and the offer duration during setup. Contact options, social links and gallery limits depend on your plan. Compare listing options.

Choose your public information

You can explain your service area without a street address

The listing form has a location field and a remote-services option. Your published location and business description are public information. Use a truthful suburb, town or service area when that is sufficient for customers; you do not need to put your private home address in the description.

For example, “Mobile nail appointments in Langa and nearby areas” explains where you work without naming a home address. If you use additional business locations in profile management, review those addresses too before publishing.

Eyam does not promise a private-address hiding switch for information you choose to publish. Check the public profile, gallery and descriptions after setup. Avoid photos showing private address labels or details you do not want shared.

Prepare a professional introduction from home

  • Your business name and the industry that best describes your work
  • Specific services or products and what customers can request
  • Your real service area and whether work is mobile, appointment-based or remote
  • Business contact details you are comfortable publishing on the selected plan
  • Photos of your own work without unnecessary household or client information
  • A clear enquiry process, including availability, quotation and visit arrangements

Make your working arrangements clear

Illustrative writing example — replace the details with your own

“I provide [your service] for customers in [your area]. I work [remotely / at customers’ premises / by appointment]. Contact me with the work you need and your preferred date so we can discuss availability and a quote. Visit details are arranged directly.”

A helpful description tells customers what happens next. Use only the working arrangement that applies to you. Avoid calling an in-person mobile service “remote” merely because you do not have a shop.

Start with the essentials, then review your public profile

  1. Check the listing terms and options

Choose a relevant industry and review the current plans and free-offer eligibility. A business profile does not register a company or grant professional approvals.

  2. Add your business and service details

Prepare your description, main image and public service area. Use the available contact fields and gallery allowance on your plan.

  3. Read the public version

Check descriptions, location entries and photos for accuracy and privacy. Correct anything you did not intend to share.

  4. Share one useful link

Add your profile link to your social bios, WhatsApp Business profile and relevant customer messages. Keep services and contact details current.

For the complete account and listing workflow, use the service-listing setup guide. For beauty or food businesses, read the industry guidance below before writing your description.

Home-based business questions

Do I need a shopfront or my own website?

An Eyam profile can describe your actual service area and how you work, including mobile or remote services. It is hosted by Eyam, so you do not need separate hosting or a domain for that profile. Check the current listing terms for your business type.

Do I need to publish my full home address?

Use a truthful town, suburb or service area when a full address is unnecessary. Treat any location, description or additional address that you publish as public, and agree private appointment details directly. Review your profile and photos before sharing the link.

Does a listing register my company or qualify me to trade?

No. Creating a public business profile is separate from company registration, licences and professional requirements. Check the requirements relevant to your own business and make only claims you can support.

Can I use my profile on WhatsApp?

You can copy and share your public profile link in WhatsApp conversations or your business profile. That is separate from publishing a WhatsApp contact button on Eyam, which depends on your subscription.

Is the free-listing offer permanent?

The free-listing offer has eligibility conditions and an expiry. Check the duration and terms during setup. Continued Discover visibility requires an active subscription; compare available listing options before the offer ends.
